Story 9: The Cooking Competition

Nadia loved helping her mother in the kitchen. Whenever her mother cooked breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Nadia enjoyed watching and learning.

One day, her school announced a cooking competition for students.

The participants had to prepare a simple and healthy meal.

When Nadia heard the announcement, she became excited.

"I want to join the competition," she told her mother.

"That's a wonderful idea," her mother replied. "I will help you practice."

For the next two weeks, Nadia spent her afternoons learning different recipes.

She learned how to cut vegetables safely, measure ingredients correctly, and cook food at the right temperature.

Sometimes she made mistakes.

One afternoon, she added too much salt to a soup.

Another day, she accidentally burned a piece of bread.

Instead of giving up, Nadia continued practicing.

"Every mistake is a chance to learn," her mother said.

Finally, the day of the competition arrived.

The school hall was full of students, teachers, and judges.

Each participant had a cooking station with the necessary equipment.

Nadia decided to prepare grilled chicken, vegetable salad, and fresh fruit juice.

As the competition began, everyone started working quickly.

Nadia carefully washed the vegetables and prepared the ingredients.

She followed each step exactly as she had practiced at home.

Halfway through the competition, one of her classmates became nervous and dropped a bowl.

The bowl broke into several pieces.

"It's okay," a teacher said. "Stay calm and continue."

Nadia also felt nervous, but she focused on her work.

After ninety minutes, the judges walked around the room and examined each dish.

They tasted the food and asked questions.

"Why did you choose this menu?" one judge asked.

"I wanted to prepare something healthy and balanced," Nadia replied.

The judge smiled and nodded.

At the end of the event, all the participants gathered near the stage.

The principal announced the winners.

Nadia won first place.

She could hardly believe it.

Her classmates congratulated her, and her mother looked very proud.

When she received her certificate, Nadia remembered all the afternoons she had spent practicing in the kitchen.

She realized that success did not come from talent alone.

It also came from patience, effort, and the willingness to keep learning.
