Labor Day was born out of a historic struggle. Decades ago, workers around the world fought courageously for the rights that many of us now consider fundamental: the eight-hour workday, fair wages, and safe working conditions.
Their sacrifices laid the foundation for the labor rights and protections we enjoy today.
As we celebrate this occasion, let us recognize the many faces of labor:
The farmer, who wakes before dawn to provide food for our families.
The bus driver, who safely carries us to our destinations.
The teacher, who shapes the minds of future generations.
The nurse and doctor, who care for our health and well-being.
The factory worker and the office clerk, whose dedication keeps our economy moving forward.
Every profession has value.
Every contribution is priceless.
And every worker deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
However, we must not become complacent.
Even today, many workers continue to face precarious employment, unequal wages, unsafe working environments, and limited social protection. At the same time, rapid advances in technology and automation are transforming the workplace, creating both new opportunities and new challenges.
Therefore, on this Labor Day, let us renew our commitment.
Let us uphold the dignity of every profession.
Let us strive for a balance between economic productivity and human well-being.
