Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Today, we will talk about gratitude, or syukur. Gratitude is one of the most beautiful teachings in Islam. A grateful heart is always peaceful because it realizes that every blessing comes from Allah.
Many people think happiness comes from having more wealth, more power, or more success. But true happiness comes from appreciating what Allah has already given us.
My dear Muslims,
Allah has given us countless blessings:
- health,
- family,
- food,
- faith,
- and the ability to worship Him.
Sometimes we focus only on what we do not have and forget the blessings that already surround us.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.”
This means gratitude opens the door to more blessings.
Brothers and sisters,
A grateful person does not complain too much. Even in difficulty, he still sees Allah’s mercy.
The scholars of Sufism teach that gratitude has three levels:
1. Gratitude with the heart
Realizing all blessings come from Allah.
2. Gratitude with the tongue
Saying “Alhamdulillah” sincerely.
3. Gratitude with actions
Using Allah’s blessings for good deeds.
For example:
- If Allah gives us knowledge, we should teach others.
- If Allah gives us wealth, we should help the poor.
- If Allah gives us strength, we should use it for goodness.
One wise scholar said:
“The grateful heart is always rich.”
True richness is not in money, but in contentment and gratitude.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Let us become grateful servants of Allah. Let us say “Alhamdulillah” not only with our tongues, but also with our hearts and actions.
May Allah fill our lives with blessings, peace, and gratitude.
