Prophet Ibrahim (AS), The Courage to Destroy the Idols

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) grew up in a community that worshipped idols. Even his own father, Azar, made idol statues. From a young age, Ibrahim wondered,
"Why do people worship things they make with their own hands?"
One night, Ibrahim saw a bright star in the sky.
"Perhaps this is my Lord," he thought.
But when morning came, the star disappeared.
Then he saw the beautiful moon.
"This must be my Lord."
However, the moon also disappeared.
Later, the sun rose with its brilliant light.
"This is the greatest. Surely this is my Lord."
But the sun also set.
From these observations, Ibrahim realized that the true God is the One who created the stars, the moon, and the sun—not the created things themselves.
One day, while his people left the town to attend a festival, Ibrahim entered the temple where the idols were kept. Holding an axe, he destroyed every idol except the largest one. Then he hung the axe around the neck of the biggest idol.
When the people returned, they were shocked to see their idols broken.
"Who did this to our gods?" they shouted.
Ibrahim calmly replied,
"Ask the biggest idol. The axe is hanging around its neck."
They answered,
"You know that it cannot speak!"
Then Ibrahim said,
"If it cannot speak and cannot do anything, why do you worship it?"
His people had no answer. Instead of accepting the truth, they became even angrier. They decided to punish Ibrahim by throwing him into a huge fire. The fire became so enormous that even birds would not fly over it.
Then Allah commanded,
"O fire, be cool and safe for Ibrahim."
A miracle happened. The blazing fire became cool, and Ibrahim walked out without a single injury.
Moral Lesson
Having the courage to stand for the truth, even when standing alone against everyone else, is one of the greatest signs of faith.

Nabi Ibrahim AS, Keberanian Menghancurkan Berhala
Nabi Ibrahim AS tumbuh di lingkungan yang menyembah berhala. Bahkan ayahnya sendiri, Azar, adalah pembuat patung-patung berhala. Sejak kecil, Ibrahim sering bertanya dalam hatinya,
"Mengapa orang-orang menyembah benda yang mereka buat dengan tangan mereka sendiri?"
Suatu malam, Ibrahim melihat sebuah bintang yang bersinar terang di langit.
"Mungkin ini Tuhanku," pikirnya.
Namun ketika pagi tiba, bintang itu menghilang.
Kemudian ia melihat bulan yang indah.
"Ini pasti Tuhanku."
Tetapi bulan pun menghilang.
Lalu matahari terbit dengan cahaya yang sangat terang.
"Ini yang paling besar. Pasti inilah Tuhanku."
Namun, matahari juga terbenam.
Dari semua itu, Ibrahim menyadari bahwa Tuhan yang sebenarnya adalah Zat yang menciptakan bintang, bulan, dan matahari, bukan benda-benda ciptaan tersebut.
Suatu hari, ketika kaumnya pergi menghadiri sebuah perayaan, Ibrahim memasuki kuil tempat berhala-berhala disimpan. Dengan membawa sebuah kapak, beliau menghancurkan semua berhala kecuali yang paling besar. Setelah itu, beliau menggantungkan kapak tersebut di leher berhala terbesar.
Ketika kaumnya kembali, mereka sangat terkejut melihat semua berhala telah hancur.
"Siapa yang melakukan ini kepada tuhan-tuhan kami?" teriak mereka.
Dengan tenang Ibrahim menjawab,
"Tanyakan saja kepada berhala yang paling besar. Bukankah kapaknya ada di lehernya?"
Mereka menjawab,
"Kamu tahu berhala itu tidak bisa berbicara!"
Lalu Ibrahim berkata,
"Kalau begitu, jika ia tidak bisa berbicara dan tidak bisa berbuat apa-apa, mengapa kalian menyembahnya?"
Kaumnya tidak mampu menjawab. Namun bukannya menerima kebenaran, mereka justru semakin marah. Mereka memutuskan menghukum Ibrahim dengan melemparkannya ke dalam api yang sangat besar. Api itu begitu dahsyat hingga burung-burung pun tidak berani terbang melewatinya.
Kemudian Allah berfirman,
"Wahai api, jadilah dingin dan penyelamat bagi Ibrahim."
Maka terjadilah sebuah mukjizat. Api yang menyala hebat itu menjadi sejuk, dan Ibrahim keluar tanpa terluka sedikit pun.
Hikmah
Keberanian untuk tetap berdiri di atas kebenaran, meskipun harus menghadapi banyak orang sendirian, merupakan salah satu bentuk keimanan yang paling mulia.
